NAPOLEONVILLE – Three Garyville men face murder and armed robbery charges following a bank robbery Thursday in Assumption Parish. One ofthe three served time for the November 1984 shooting death of Lt.

Sherman Walker.

James Michael Dunn, 31, Anthony D. Scott, 19, and Kendall H. Breaux, 19,all of Little Hope St., Garyville, are charged with first-degree murder andarmed robbery.

Dunn was one of three people who ambushed Walker outside his home in Garyville in 1984. Dunn pled guilty to manslaughter and received a 21-yearsentence. He was released on good behavior in 1995, according to St. JohnSheriff Wayne L. Jones.The other suspects in the bank robbery and shootings in Napoleonville also had prior criminal records, Jones added.

At 11:45 a.m. Thursday, the three suspects allegedly entered the IbervilleBank and Trust on Louisiana Highway 1. An Assumption Parish sheriff’sdeputy, responding to a silent alarm tripped at the bank, arrived in time to spot a vehicle fleeing the scene. The deputy entered the bank and found thetwo bank tellers, one already shot dead and the other with mortal wounds.

He broadcast a description of the suspect vehicle and roadblocks were erected at Louisiana Highways 3127 and 20, near Donaldsonville, by Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies.

The rented forest-green 1988 Pontiac Sunfire stopped for the roadblock, but when asked for identification, the driver sped away. Pursuing officerschased the vehicle in the direction of the Sunshine Bridge.

One mile from the roadblock, at 1 p.m., the car was struck by a UnionPacific Railroad train. One suspect was pinned in the vehicle and the othertwo attempted to flee on foot, dashing into a sugar cane field near C.F.Industries. But they were quickly apprehended.The money from the robbery and the bank’s security cameras were recovered from the crashed vehicle.

The two robbery victims were identified as Lisa Dupre, 22, of Pierre Part, and Jackie Blanchard, 31, of Plattenville. Dupre was pronounced dead atthe scene, and Blanchard died en route to the hospital.
