BATON ROUGE – Rep. Roy Quezaire of Donaldsonville and Rep. BobbyFaucheux of LaPlace were each elected to offices in the Louisiana House of Representatives Rural Caucus for 1998-99.

Quezaire was selected treasurer for the 61-member group, first organized in 1979. Faucheux was re-elected parliamentarian.Quezaire said: “I am honored that I was elected to serve as treasurer of the Rural Caucus. I believe this organization makes great strides towardpromoting the rural areas of Louisiana.

He added, “Rural constituents make up a majority of the constituents in my district as well as many other districts. For that reason, we are thelargest caucus in the House.”Quezaire also serves on the House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works, Parochial and Cultural Affairs Committee, the House Legislative Services Council and the House Executive Committee.

Faucheux commented on his re-election: “I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve as parliamentarian of the Rural Caucus because I believe the organization helps to promote and better the conditions and objectives of rural areas of the state.

“As a group, we command more attention and have a stronger voice in deliberations on the House floor than we would individually. This makes usmore effective as legislators and enables us to do a better job for our rural constituents.”Faucheux also serves on the Judiciary, Natural Resources, Ways and Means and the Joint Legislative Capital Outlay committees.
