RESERVE – The Reserve Christian Lady Eagles ended the regular season on a high note, scoring 12 runs in the bottom of the third for a 14-4 victory over Assembly of New Iberia Friday afternoon.

Reserve Christian finished the season at 4-4 and will enter the Louisiana Christian Schools Athletic Association state playoffs Friday. The finals ofthe tournament will be held at Reserve Christian Saturday at 1 p.m.Reserve Christian trailed 4-2 heading into the third when Amber Keller opened the inning with a single. Katie Millet walked and Katie Pitre washit by a pitch from New Iberia starter Betsy Stelly to load the bases with one out.

Tara Goudeau reached on a fielder’s choice against reliever Andrea Davis as Keller came in to score. One out later, Sara Davis and Shelly Ford drewwalks to force in Millet and Pitre to give the Lady Eagles a 5-4 lead.

Jessica Dufrene followed with a double to left field, scoring Goudeau and Davis.

The Lady Eagles reloaded the bases on a walk by Keller and Millet cleared them with a double down the first baseline, increasing the lead to 10-4.

After Millet scored on an error by catcher Buryl Babineaux, Angela Tucker walked and Pitre followed with a single to right. Tucker scored as Goudeaufollowed with a single to center and Pitre came in as the ball got past center fielder Nicole Mahoney.

Walks by Summer Vicknair and Sara Davis loaded the bases before Ford walked to force in Goudeau. The game was then called due to the 10-runrule.

New Iberia took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as Christina LeBlanc drew a walk from Keller to open the game. LeBlanc would come around toscore on two wild pitches and an error by Ford. Stelly made it 2-0 bydrawing a walk and scoring on a ground out by Babineaux.

Reserve Christian would come back to tie the score with runs in the first and second innings. With one out in the bottom of the first, JessicaDufrene tripled to center field and came in to score on a wild pitch by Stelly.

Pitre led off the second by getting hit by a pitch and advancing second to second on an out by Goudeau. Two wild pitches later, Pitre crossed theplate to tie the game at two.

Vicknair and Davis followed with walks and moved up on a grounder by Ford, but Mahoney chased down Dufrene’s fly ball in deep center field to end the inning.

New Iberia regained the lead as Kelly Bouque was hit by a pitch and stole second with two outs in the top of the third.

Babineaux followed with a single with Bouque scoring as Davis’s throw from left got past Ford at the plate. Shania Rankin then reached on anerror by Millet at short as Babineaux scored to make it 4-2.

New Iberia held on to defeat Reserve Christian in the first game of the double header, 6-5, despite two hits by Dufrene.
