Compost bins for sale

LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish will have a compost bin sale onSaturday, May 9, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in front of the Percy Hebert Building at1801 West Airline Highway.
The bins are subsidized by the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources and will sell for $10.
St John Parish will be allotted 275 bins at the subsidized $10 price.
Because they are subsidized each family household will be able to purchase one $10 bin. Additional nonsubsidized bins are available at $20each. There is no family household limit on the $20 bins.The Department of Public Works will take early individual subsidized bin orders at this time (up to 150 of the parish’s subsidized bin allotment).
This will leave 125 subsidized bins for general sale to the public on May 9.
You can reserve subsidized or nonsubsidized bins in your name by calling Adrienne Labat at 652-4815 or 536-4274 between 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondaythrough Friday. Money for the subsidized bins will be taken on May 9 whenbins are picked up.
All reserved bins must be picked up by 11 a.m. Reserved bins not claimedby 11 a.m. will be sold to the general public.Orders will be taken for the $20 nonsubsidized bins on Saturday or by telephone prior to May 9 and will be available for pickup at the Public Works Building, located behind the Percy Hebert Building, after May 17.
Payment for these bins will be made at time of pickup. A sample bin willbe available in the Public Works Building for public viewing beginning Monday, April 20.
