PERSONAL BESTS LEAD TEAM EFFORT BY RIVERSIDE

RESERVE – A slew of personal and seasonal bests led the Riverside boys and girls track team to victories at the Riverside Meet Wednesday afternoon.

The Riverside boys finished with 111 points, out-distancing Ridgewood which finished with 52.5 points. St. Charles Catholic was third with 50points, followed by St. Martin’s with 40.5.The Lady Rebels also outdistanced the field, scoring 162 points to Karr’s 67 points. Ridgewood was third with 41 points, followed by St. CharlesCatholic with 35 and St. Martin’s with 27.”We performed real well,” Riverside coach John White said.

Riverside’s Travis Bourgeois placed first in the discus with a season-best toss of 138 feet, eight inches. Teammate Rhett Vicknair was second witha toss of 13-4. St. Charles Catholic’s Maurice St. Pierre and Randy Noelfinished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Bourgeois also took first place honors in the shot put with a toss of 48 feet. Riverside’s Stephen Gill was second with a personal-best toss of 44-4 1/2, while St. Charles Catholic’s Kenny Ordeneaux placed third with athrow of 44-3. And Riverside’s Keith LeBlanc tossed the javelin a personalbest 167-1 1/2 to defeat Vicknair. LeBlanc also finished second in the100-meter dash with a time of 11.72 seconds.St. Pierre out-jumped the field in the high jump, clearing the bar at sixfeet. Teammate Julian Ward was third at 5-6, followed by Riverside’s JoelLevin at 5-4.

Levin also placed second in the long jump with a jump of 18-1/2 and third in the triple jump with a leap of 36-6 1/2. Riverside’s Ronnie Masonfinished second in the triple jump with a leap of 40-4 and St. CharlesCatholic’s Ward was third in the long jump with a jump of 17-11. Masonalso won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.56. Riverside’s T.J. Sutton and Justin Dunn placed two-three in the pole vaultwith vaults of 11 and 10 feet, respectively.

Riverside’s Armand Centanni took three of the running events, winning the 800-meters in 2:17.09, the 400-meter run in 53.8 and the 1600-meters in4:57.62. Cormier placed fourth in the 1600-meters and Josh Schexnayderled St. Charles Catholic in the running events, winning the 100-meter dashin a time of 11.70 and the 200-meter dash in 24.09. In the relays, St. Charles Catholic took first in the 400-meters with atime of 46.18. Riverside placed first in the 1600-meters with a time of3:36.16, one second off the school record. And Ridgewood took first in the800-meters with a time of 1:36.9. St. Charles Catholic and Riversideplaced second and third, respectively.

In the girls’ events, Amanda Roussel continued her dominance of the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-4. She just missed at 5-6, which would havebroken her own school-record of 5-5 1/4 set at the Riverside meet held on March 11. Roussel also won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.38,beating out teammate Jennifer Guidry. She will compete in a meet inMobile, Ala. on April 11. Riverside’s Hannah Hobdy captured both the triple jump and long jump with jumps of 32-4 1/2 and 16-11 1/2, respectively. Roussel was second in thetriple jump with a jump of 31-9 1/2, while Amy Graugnard was third in the long jump with a leap of 15-3. Hobdy would later add the 400-meterrun with a time of 1:05.57.Riverside’s Mandy Roussel upset St. Martin’s Catherine Betz in the discuswith a toss of 102-8 1/2. Betz did win the javelin competition with atoss of 136-1 1/2, the best toss in the metro area this season. Riverside’sMelissa Martin, in her first season throwing the javelin, placed second with a career-best throw of 120-8. Teammate Amy Trepagnier was thirdwith St. Charles Catholic’s Shannon Dolive placing fifth. Dolive also placedfifth in the discus with a toss of 75-5.

Martin captured the shot put with a personal-record throw of 35-10 1/2.

Dolive was second with a toss of 32-0, while Riverside’s Marci Remondet placed third with a throw of 31-8.

Jennifer Smith led the way in the running events, capturing the 1600- meter run in 6:21.38 and the 3200-meter run in 14:14.9. Teammate JennyKlibert placed second in the 1600-meters with a time of 6:26.38, whileJennifer Pollet of St. Charles Catholic was fourth. Klibert also placedthird in the 3200-meter run.

Lori Smith won the 100-meter dash in 13.25 while placing third in the200-meter dash in 28.08. The Lady Comets’ Clement finished second in the100-meters with a time of 13.39. Michelle Millet of Riverside capturedthe 800-meter run with a personal best time of 2:37.32, while placingfourth in the 400-meter run.

St. Charles Catholic’s Liz Dufresne placed fourth in the 800-meter runwith a time of 2:44.04, while teammate Melissa Schlingwein placed fifthin the 400-meters.

Karr placed first in both the 800- and 1600-meter relays. Riverside tookthe 400-meter relays in 54.1 seconds.
