River Parishes Hospital news: McGaff named hospital’s chief of staff for 1998

Charles McGaff, M.D., a general surgeon and surgical oncologist, has beennamed River Parishes Hospital’s chief of staff for 1998. McGaff is boardcertified as a diplomate by the American Board of Surgery and has been on the hospital’s medical staff since 1990. Other members of the 1998medical executive committee are Wendi DeFrank, M.D., vice chief of staff;Philip Kurica, M.D., chief of surgery; Jose Cusco, M.D., chief of medicine;William Johnson, M.D., treasurer; and David St. Germain, M.D., past chief ofstaff. The MEC is responsible for the credentialing of new physicians andthe re-appointment of existing physicians, ensuring that the level of quality standards are maintained in the departments of medicine and surgery. The committee also advises hospital administration on newpatient care programs, as well as existing medical services, and collaborates with the administrative team to develop the hospital’s annual and long-term business plans.
