Teen killed in wreck

DES ALLEMANDS – A traffic accident early Saturday took the life of a DesAllemands teen-ager. Seven others were injured in the accident.
Brooke Anne Matlock, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Louisiana State Police spokesman Trooper Kevin Cannatella,a blue, two-door, 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier was westbound on U.S. Highway90 near Scott Street at 2:51 a.m. when the driver lost control of thevehicle. The car flipped and landed overturned on the right side of theroadway.
Two female passengers were transported by helicopter to West JeffersonMedical Center, Marrero, where one was treated and released and the otherwas still undergoing treatment but in stable condition, according tospokeswoman Beth Hayden.
Five other passengers, three males and two females ranging in ages from14 to 16, were transported to St. Charles Parish Hospital, Luling, wherethey were treated and released, according to spokeswoman KarenBergeron. They were from the Luling and Paradis/Des Allemands areas, sheadded.
Matlock was the daughter of Theresa Philpot and John Matlock andstepdaughter of Richard Johnson. Services were held Tuesday in DesAllemands.
The accident remains under investigation with possible charges pending,Cannatella said.
