Bulldogs, Wildcats recognized by St. James Parish School Board

LUTCHER – Athletes from Lutcher and St. James high schools wererecognized for their achievements during the first half of the 1997-98school year at the meeting of the St. James School Board last Tuesday.

Board member Kenneth Foret introduced a resolution recognizing Lutcherfor its Division III state championship in boys’ swimming, its secondplace finish in District 10-3A in football and its cross country team. Alsohonored were the girls’ swim teach which placed third in the Division IIIstate championships and the Lady Bulldogs’ volleyball team that placedsecond in Division III, District 5.

Board member Willis Octave also introduced a resolution recognizing theSt. James football team for its District 10-3A championship and theteam’s victories over Belle Chasse, Breaux Bridge and Amite in the stateplayoffs. Also honored were Tramayne Blain, Daniel Borne, Jeremy Harry,Rydell Harry, Chad Jasmin, Terrance Landry, Chad Smith and Corey Websterfor being selected first team all-district. Rydell Harry, Landry and Smithwere also recognized for being selected all-metro and all-state.

Both resolutions commended the student-athletes, managers, coaches,faculty, students and the community for their support of athletics at theschools.
