LAPLACE –St. John the Baptist Parish authorities are investigating a shooting Sunday afternoon in which a 25-year-old LaPlace man was shot in the leg.
Just before 5 p.m. Sunday, deputies were called to the intersection of Cambridge Drive and Penn Drive in response to reports of gunfire in the area, said Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office. He said when the deputies arrived they were informed by residents in the area that all subjects involved had fled the scene.

“The victim told deputies that he knew the subject who had shot him, but he did not know his name,” Clement said.
After the victim was questioned he was transferred to University Hospital in New Orleans. His condition is not known. Clement said investigators have no motive for the shooting and no suspects.
