I-55 lane closures planned Tuesday
The right lane of Interstate 55 northbound at mile marker 4.1 and the right lane of I-55 northbound at mile marker 13.7 will be closed intermittently on Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 12:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. (weather permitting) while crews perform routine bridge maintenance. One lane will remain open at all times.

LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish was recently approved for more than $174,000 in community development grants under the Comprehensive Resiliency Program, according to a release.
River Parishes Hospital names interim CEO
LAPLACE – Hospital executive veteran Michael R. Burroughs, FACHE, has been appointed to serve as chief executive officer on an interim basis for River Parishes Hospital according to Michael Clark, president of the American Division of LifePoint Hospitals of which River Parishes is a part.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was recently held for Chung’s Heavenly Sweets, located at 607 Belle Terre Blvd. in LaPlace. Chung’s serves specialty desserts, soups, sandwiches and salads. A quarter century of proms and weddings
Formal Connection opened in June 1985 and has been serving the River parishes for 25 years. The store opened with only nine styles but has grown to over 60 styles of tuxedos with such name brands as After-Six, Ralph Lauren, Andrew Fezza, Oscar de la Renta and more. Sizes range from 3 to 66. Owner Ronnie White attributes the success of the shop to a knowledgeable and experienced staff, customer satisfaction and word of mouth. White also recognized BaBa Oncale, who has been with the shop for 20 years. Formal Connection is located at 299 Belle Terre Blvd., Suite C, in LaPlace.

LAPLACE – St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office Lt. Kirt Tregre, a crime scene investigator and 20-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, recently completed 280 hours of academic instruction and training at the International Forensic Science Academy at Camp Shelby, Miss., according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office.
