LAPLACE – Sunday’s Super Bowl was the most-watched program in television history. It beat out the previous record-holder, the finale of the series “M.A.S.H.,” by about a million viewers.
Accordingly, last week L’Observateur asked its readers where they planned to be on the big day.

The next most popular location was in the Crescent City. Nearly one-fifth of those who responded to the poll said they’d make the short trip to New Orleans for the Super Bowl.
The River Parishes, however, also have their fair share of people who aren’t football fans, with the third most popular choice being to not watch the game at all.
A full breakdown of all the voting results follows:
• 47 percent of respondents chose “I'm going to watch the game right here in the River Parishes.”
• 19 percent of respondents chose “I have to be in New Orleans when the Saints win the Super Bowl.”
• 3 percent of respondents chose “Miami is the only place to be for the big game.”
• 13 percent of respondents chose “I'm going to be as far away from a TV as possible.”
Next week’s question: For the first part of the game, Peyton Manning and the Colts seemed as though they would squash the Saints’ dream of winning their first Super Bowl. What do you think was the turning point in the game?
