Remembering a different Manchac Swamp
When you drive down Interstate 55 or along Highway 51 through Manchac, you probably never stop to think about the swamp beside the roadway, you just drive along and take the landscape for granted.

St. Charles Borromeo Middle School students celebrated a special Mass at St. Peter Claver School in downtown New Orleans dedicated to children. The two school learned about a culture different from theirs and shared in a liturgy full of dancing, drum music and prayer. The Mass included special petitions for children near home and throughout the world. After Mass, students enjoyed lunch together in the school cafeteria, where they played trivia games in honor of school lunch week.

Throwing out the trash
It always happens when I least expect it. One second I’m in the midst of a normal activity, and then my mind takes off in another, totally different direction. The simplest of scenes takes on much greater dimensions as God interjects His thoughts into my own.

A colorful show of support

Over 150 shirts were worn after the tragic military loss from Fort Hood in Texas. Here, a group of students stand under the flag in front of the school. ESJE plans to continue their military support with student letters to the soldiers, cards and care packages.
