It was a typical read option play, said Lutcher coach Tim Detillier. It’s a staple of the Lutcher offense, nothing special about it.
That might be true if Gavin Webster were not the one running it.

Lutcher (9-0, 4-0) clinched a share of the district crown with the win.
The run made it 35-0 with 44 seconds into the second half, negating any thoughts of a Terrier (5-4, 3-1) comeback.
“If it was still in doubt, it was over then,” said Detillier.
It was one of the six touchdowns that Webster accounted for on Friday night. Three came on the ground, as part of his 13 carries for 129 yards. The rest came as result of an aerial assault on the Terrier secondary.
Aside from an early interception, Webster was virtually flawless – he completed 14-of-17 passes for 263 yards and three scores.
On the season, Webster has accounted for 44 total scores – 31 through the air – and nearly 3,000 total yards.
“For almost any other quarterback, that is such phenomenal night,” said Detillier. “But not for Gavin Webster. You look at what he’s done all year long, and it falls in line.”
Lutcher failed to score on its first possession after Vandebilt intercepted Webster.
But from there on out, it was all about the Bulldogs.
The first score came with 5:08 left in the first quarter, Webster connecting with Trevor Englade from 13 yards away. A two-point pass made it 8-0.
A little over three minutes later, it was Jarvis Landry finding the endzone, scoring on a 32-yard pass from Webster to make it 15-0.
Thins slowed down until 3:04 left in the first half. Webster found Jeffrey Deslatte for a 27-yard score, making it 21-0.
Right before halftime, the Bulldogs advantage grew to 28-0 on a 7-yard Webster run.
Then that 7-yard run became a 70-yarder early in the second half. And the rout was on.
Lutcher tripled Vandebilt Catholic in yardage, 450-to-147.
Vandebilt quarterback T.J. Cantrelle managed only 24 yards passing on four completions.
Jarvis Landry piled up 170 yards on six catches. Anthony Milazzo was the star defensively, making seven tackles, intercepting a pass and returning a fumble 95-yards for LHS’ last score.
Lutcher will attempt to nail down only the fifth perfect regular season in school history this Friday night as it hosts Morgan City.
“It’s so hard to accomplish. We’d love to be the fifth team to do it here,” said Detillier.
