Louisiana Technical College in Reserve recently had a blood drive, a door decorating contest, an Octoberfest and a job fair all at the same time. Over 400 high school students attended the events.

What can you do for your country?
In May 2007, I had the opportunity to spend Memorial Day in Washington, D.C. The three-day experience was exciting, but the highlight of the trip was meeting a veteran from Levittown, Pa. He was 87-years-old Master Sergeant Albert Ludwig (retired).
Students earn high school and college credits at the same time
RESERVE - Students enrolled in Louisiana high schools can dual enroll at Louisiana Technical College (LTC) Campuses. Students who dual enroll receive both high school elective credit and technical college credit at the same time. These students take LTC courses during their regular school day. West St. John High School students travel by bus from the school to the campus in the morning. They take two classes at LTC and then return to WSJHS for two classes in the afternoon. East St. John High School students attend classes at ESJHS in the morning and travel by bus to the LTC in the afternoon.
Remembering a different Manchac Swamp
When you drive down Interstate 55 or along Highway 51 through Manchac, you probably never stop to think about the swamp beside the roadway, you just drive along and take the landscape for granted.
A tale of two schools
St. Charles Borromeo Middle School students celebrated a special Mass at St. Peter Claver School in downtown New Orleans dedicated to children. The two school learned about a culture different from theirs and shared in a liturgy full of dancing, drum music and prayer. The Mass included special petitions for children near home and throughout the world. After Mass, students enjoyed lunch together in the school cafeteria, where they played trivia games in honor of school lunch week.
