Garyville VFD teaches fire safety
The Garyville Volunteer Fire Department recently visited St. John Early Childhood Development Center and Garyville Magnet School (K-2) with the fire prevention trailer for fire prevention activities.

Sporting event outcomes have a big affect
Over the years, I’ve heard people say, especially salesmen, that when the Saints or LSU lose a game, the attitude of many people is affected. On the other hand, a win by both teams makes living more pleasant and exciting.

Bugmobile visits SCB students
Early childhood students at St. Charles Borromeo School in Destrehan recently had a visit from the Audubon Nature Institute’s Bugobile. Students were given a presentation on what makes a bug an insect and the different parts of an insect. 

Six complete the LELI
Six administrators in St. John the Baptist Parish successfully completed the Louisiana Educational Leaders Induction Program (LELI): Alison Cupit (LaPlace Elementary School principal), Stacey Bradford (West St. John High School assistant principal), Bonnie Dinvaut (coordinator of educational technology), Genevieve Gomez (East St. John Elementary School assistant principal), Zina Jones (Lake Pontchartrain Elementary School assistant principal), Lanette Perrin (coordinator of Instruction and professional development) and Kendria Spears (Fifth Ward Elementary School principal).
