LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John Parish arrested a Reserve man on battery charges Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed his live-in girlfriend with a pen during a dispute Tuesday night, said a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.

Aaron Jordan, 25, was arrested just after midnight Wednesday at his home in the 100 block of Bardwell Drive, said Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office. Clement said deputies were called out to the home around 11:58 p.m. Tuesday by Jordan’s 20-year-old girlfriend, who said she was stabbed as she tried to leave the house.

The woman told deputies Jordan beat her with a broomstick and belt and stabbed her repeatedly with a pen. A report from the Sheriff’s Office stated deputies arrived and found Jordan’s girlfriend with multiple stab wounds to her hand and bruises on her body.

The report went on to say when she tried to leave the house with her two young children, Jordan refused to let his girlfriend leave and threw her to the floor with her kids in her hands.

Clement said the two children, a 16-month-old and a 2-month-old, were not injured during the incident.

Clement said after Jordan went to sleep, the victim left the residence to call the Sheriff’s Office from a neighbor’s house. When authorities arrived, the girlfriend was taken to River Parishes Hospital for treatment of her injuries. No information on her condition was available.

Jordan was booked into the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace on charges of second-degree battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment and cruelty to juveniles. Clement said Jordan remains in jail on a $60,000 bond.
