It was another dominating performance for St. Charles on Friday night, much to the chagrin of visiting Fisher.

Henri Faucheux threw three touchdown passes on only passing four attempts to help lead the fourth-ranked Comets to a 42-0 victory over the Gators in a District 9-2A game in LaPlace.

“I was a little concerned with it being homecoming, but we had pretty good focus in practice all week,” said SCC coach Frank Monica. “We wanted to throw it early, not only to establish balance, but to get our passing game going before the weather became an issue. We executed the way we wanted to.”

Faucheux completed all four of his pass attempts for 109 yards.

The Comets (6-0) rushed for 217 yards on the night, led by Marcus Hall’s 82 yards on five carries. He scored once. Including receiving and return yardage, Hall accumulated 220 all-purpose yards to lead all players.

Jeffrey Hall scored twice on his three carries for 59 yards.

The Comet defense held Fisher (2-3) to 63 total yards, and only two first downs.

“They were missing four starters, which really impacted the game for them,” said Monica. “Their big 240 pound fullback is a huge part of that triple option. They always look to establish him. But our defense played extremely well.”

SCC began the game on a high note when Marcus Hall returned the opening kickoff 55 yards to the Fisher 41. Two plays later, Faucheux found Zach Goodwin for an 18 yard touchdown to make it 7-0 only 25 seconds into the game.

After forcing a Fisher three-and-out, the Comets took over on the Gator 47. Despite having to overcome a penalty that set SCC back from the 4 to the 19, it took only five plays for the Comets to get into the endzone – Faucheux found Tyler Roussel for a 17-yard score with 6:50 left in the opening quarter to make it 14-0.

Another Fisher three-and-out gave the Comets the ball on their own 35. SCC’s first play was its only on its third scoring drive, as Faucheux dialed up Goodwin one more time for a 65-yard score to make it 21-0.

The Comets set up their next score on defense when Timmy White recovered a Gator fumble at the Fisher 27.

After a Comet penalty, Jeffrey Hall took the first handoff and scored from 37 yards away to make it 28-0 with 2:26 left in the first quarter.

SCC would add scores in the second quarter – a 19-yard Jeffrey Hall score – and the third quarter – a Marcus Hall 23-yard touchdown run – to round out the scoring.

“I’m very, very thankful for where we are right now, at 6-0,” said Monica. “I don’t know that we anticipated this. But now it comes down to two crucial games against Riverside, then Curtis. We’ll need to play better.”
