RESERVE – A festive group of veterans living at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home were taken on a brief trip to the Land of Oz Thursday courtesy of a humorous fast-talking puppet master.

Wayne “Uncle Wayne” Daigrepont, a member of the Port-a-Puppet Players, entertained the residents with a unique interpretation of The Wizard of Oz starring staff members and a few residents of the home.

“It’s a show designed for children, and I wasn’t sure how it would be received, so I just dove in,” Daigrepont said. “I think it turned out just fine.”

Daigrepont quickly raced through notable scenes of the movie with the help of some of the more courageous staff members at the home.
