Run, run, run and jump for joy
The first week of school for St. Peter Chanel School pre-kindergarten students was filled with excitement as they looked around campus for their decorated gingerbread boy cookies that ran away while the students were at lunch. The students walked around campus looking for the cookies. Luckily, the gingerbread men left clues around campus leading to find them.

West St. John honors its grandparents
In the West St. John High School gymnasium, linen tablecloths, balloon bouquets, and gift bags awaited the students’ grandparents. The Grandparents’ Day Committee honored grandparents with a Thanksgiving-style feast, speeches, songs and poetry. Guindella Joseph, a paraeducator at WSJH, has coordinated this event for the past 12 years.

RESERVE – Soldiers of the Louisiana Army National Guard’s 1084th Transportation Company in Reserve, were promoted by the 165th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion during September drill.

Riverside Academy brought home the trophies
Riverside Academy was well represented at 4-H Achievement day. They placed first in T-shirt design, scrapbook, song, yell and outstanding meetings. They also placed second in the penny drive. Riverside was awarded trophies for participating in at least five projects and one project with a special theme. Members are (first row, left to right) Maegan Hymel, Robbie Duhe, Kolbi Johnson, Tanner Louque, (second row, left to right) Cody Hoffpauir, Samantha Falgoust, Paige Bivona, Heath Harvey, Ali Vicknair, Leila Ahmad and Annie Kennedy.

Local crowned in Natchitoches
LaPlace native Ron’eeka Allyce Hill was crowned as the 2009 Miss Natchitoches Meat Pie Festival Queen.
