St. Charles Catholic finished off a perfect predistrict campaign on Friday night, topping local rival West St. John, 21-6, in LaPlace.

SCC (3-0) will open up district play at home against Lusher next week. West St. John drops to 2-1, and will face Donaldsonville in non-district play.

Comets quarterback Henri Faucheux threw two touchdown passes, and the Comet defense shut out the Rams until the 4:01 mark of the fourth quarter, when Dray Joseph’s pass to Kenneth Dabney went for a 71-yard WSJ score.

While the Comets offense wasn’t always smooth -- sustained drives were at a premium -- SCC got big plays when it needed them. Marcus Hall came up big in the return game again -- a 37-yard punt return set up SCC’s first score, a 13-yard slant from Faucheux to Zach Goodwin that made it 7-0 early in the second quarter. A 33-yard pass from Faucheux to Keith White set up a 6-yard Hall touchdown right before halftime. And Goodwin’s 44-yard catch and run in the third quarter led to an 8-yard shovel pass from Faucheux to Brandon Becker for a score.
