Cargill, along with employees ofthe company's Terre Haute Marine Facility, located on River Road in Reserve, made two donations totalling $35,000 on Wednesday. The first, in the amount of $10,000, went to help St. John Ministry of Care while the second, of $25,000, went to Teach for America.

St. John Ministry of Care is an organization that helps persons in crisis, while Teach for America is a national organization with a chapter active in the River Parish region.

Cargill's Terre Haute Facility has 112 employees and the gift was made possible through employee support, along with corporate level gifts and matching, explained Plant Manager Pat Gathman. Gathman said Wednesday's donations were the second and third large donations made through the plant's community action committee, with the first being a playground in Gramercy.
