LAPLACE – A Norco man was arrested Sunday by St. John authorities after his vehicle was seen leaving the scene of a drive-by shooting at his former girlfriend’s LaPlace home, according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office.

No one was injured during the shooting, which occurred around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, said Lt. Andy Breaux of the St. John Sheriff’s Office.

Troy Deweese, 21, 603 Giacomo St., was booked into the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility around 10 p.m. Sunday on charges of assault by drive-by shooting, Breaux said. Bond was set Monday at $35,000.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, several shots were fired at a home in the 300 block of Magnolia Avenue Sunday morning. Deweese’s ex-girlfriend told authorities she noticed Deweese’s vehicle leaving the area just after the shooting.

Breaux said Deweese was arrested later that evening at his Norco home. Authorities are not yet sure whether the suspect acted alone in the attack. Deweese was released from parish jail Tuesday.
