LAPLACE – A LaPlace woman was robbed at gunpoint Friday evening while using an automated teller machine at a LaPlace bank, said a spokesman for the St. John Sheriff’s Office.

Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, said the unidentified gunman forced the 24-year-old victim to withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash from her bank account. Clement said the victim was using an ATM machine at a bank in the 300 block of Belle Terre Boulevard just after 6 p.m. Friday. The woman reported the robbery about an hour later.

Authorities said no one was injured in the robbery and no arrests have been made. The victim did not provide a description of the gunman, but Clement said deputies are reviewing surveillance tapes from the bank’s ATM as part of the investigation into the robbery.

Anyone who may have information about the incident should contact the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985-652-9513.
