LAPLACE – Authorities in Laplace are investigating an early morning shooting Saturday outside of a LaPlace nightclub that sent two people to the hospital with injuries, said a spokesman for the St. John Sheriff’s Office.

The gunfire erupted just before 2 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Club Xquisite, located at 1107 E. Airline Highway in LaPlace, said Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office. He said when deputies arrived on the scene they had learned that the two victims, a 17-year-old male and a 21-year-old female, both residents of Kenner, were transported to River Parishes Hospital.

Clement said the male victim sustained a gunshot wound to the temple and was transferred to the intensive care unit at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie. The female victim was hit in the back of the neck and is in stable condition at University Hospital in New Orleans, Clement said. Neither of the victims’ names was released.

In addition to those injuries, Clement said that six vehicles parked in front of the club were struck with stray bullets during the shooting. No further details were released on the incident.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact St. John Sheriff’s Det. Kenny Mitchell at 985-652-9513.
