Ann Leblanc, an employee with nearly 20 years’ service to River Parishes Hospital, was the 2009 recipient of the Lifepoint Mercy Award during a presentation Monday afternoon.

Leblanc is now a candidate for Lifepoint Hospitals, Inc.’s companywide award, created in 2002 to honor the memory of Scott Mercy, founding chairman and CEO of the Brentwood, Tenn.-based company. Mercy died in a plane crash.

Leblanc was one of three finalists for the local award, being joined by Claudette Henry and Denise Nosacka. The award was presented by RPH CEO Charlotte Dupre’.

Leblanc, director of radiology, was described in her nomination as an altruistic member of the organization and her community.

“Her passions and inspirations are those that promote good and wellness for others,” the nomination continued.

“Through youth involvement, she continues to impact the lives and futures of many young ladies who have benefited from her selfless dedication.”

Leblanc has been involved with the Girl Scouts, St. Charles Pageant Association, St. John Parish Andouille Association, St. John Theatre and the American Cancer Society.

Additionally, she has taught Catholic Catechism classes and has served as a Eucharistic minister for Sacred Heart Church.

Lifepoint’s companywide winner will be named later this month.
