LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John booked a LaPlace man on charges of child molestation and possession of pornography involving juveniles after receiving complaints from the mother of one of the victims, said a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.

Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, said Jason Chedotal, 41, 1605 Yorktowne Drive, was detained Monday afternoon after investigators received the complaint Sunday. Clement would not reveal the nature of the complaint. Chedotal, who was charged with two counts of molestation of a juvenile and two counts of possession of child pornography, is being held at the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace on $300,000 bond.

Clement said investigators have identified two victims in the incident, but could not reveal any further information. He said detectives anticipate more victims as the investigation continues. Authorities would also not reveal where the images of child pornography were found.

Clement said the incident is part of an ongoing investigation and anyone with any information is asked to contact Det. Christie Murden at the St. John Sheriff’s Office at 985-652-9513.
