Rebecca Alexis-Ellis departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Riverland Health Care Center in Lutcher. Wife of the late George Alexis Sr. by first marriage and the late Leon Ellis by second marriage. Beloved mother of Donell Alexis of Houston, Freddie Mae Jones of Inglewood, Calif., Fredrick Alexis of Mt. Airy, Gloria Brown of Lutcher, the late George Jr. and Calvin Alexis. Stepmother of Hilton Leonard of LaPlace and Addison Ellis of Highland, Calif. Mother-in-law of Audrey Alexis of LaPlace, the late James Jones, Alton Brown, Geraldine Alexis and Mary Alexis. Sister of Hilary Patterson of Lynwood, Calif., and Lillian Carter of Convent. Also survived by 21 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A native of Convent and a resident of Reserve. Age 91 years.

Visitation and services were held on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Zion Travelers Baptist Church in LaPlace. Interment in Zion Travelers Cemetery in Reserve.
