Geraldine Oubre Thomas, age 81 years, a resident of St. James, departed this life on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. Daughter of the late Joseph and Rozena Ambrose Oubre. Wife of the late Israel Thomas. Retired from St. James Parish School System as a Food Service employee. A faithful member of St. James Catholic Church, Ladies Auxiliary, Christian Mothers Org., Board Member of Council on Aging, and enjoyed time at Welcome Senior Citizens Center. Mother of Gregory Thomas, , Mary (Eugene) Thomas and Linda (Charles) Winchester, grandmother of Dondreal (Arnold) Thompson, Jomall (Mianca) Winchester, Chad (Trevail) Thomas and Brandon Winchester, great-grandmother of Arielle, Afiya, Imani and Mikayla Thompson and Jordan Thomas, sister of Rose Marie Oubre, Jerome and Nathaniel Oubre, the late Lois Walker, Sidney, Vincent, John, Charles and James Oubre. Sister-in-law of Danny (Lydia Small), Cass Oubre, Jackie Oubre, Doris Southerland, and Mary Ann Watkins. Aunt of Juliette Jiles. Survived by a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her daughter Gwendolyn Ann Thomas, mother-in-law Liddie Camille, father-in-law Wilfred Camille and brother-in-law Percy Leon.

Visitation and services were on Monday, Feb 23, at St. James Catholic Church in St. James. Interment in St. Phillip Catholic Church Cemetery in Vacherie.
