A resident of St. James, Eloise Richard Falgoust died on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. A native of Paincourtville, she was born on Sept. 26, 1934. Survived by her husband of 56 years Herman J. Falgoust, children David M. Falgoust (and Sharon M. Falgoust) of Atlanta, Dr. Susan F. Puyau (and Dr. Michael Puyau) of Baton Rouge, Paul N. Falgoust (and Wendy R. Falgoust) of Thibodaux, and Sybil F. Marcello (and Frank P. Marcello) of Donaldsonville. Also survived by nine grandchildren, sisters Mildred R. Blanchard, Adeline R. Simon, Mary Ann R. Simon and Lorain R. Cazenave. Preceded in death by her parents Taylor J. Richard and Angele S. Richard, brothers Herman, Milton and Robert Richard and sister Eula Mae R. Blanchard.
Stephone Parker, a Operator for Simpson-Duldent Inc. in Vickbury, Miss., age 47, departed this life on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, in Paulina. Son the late Clara K. and Curley Parker. Brother of Alvin Williams, Curley Jr., Michael Parker, Stella Johnson, Robyn Gregoire and the late Curley Parker III. Nephew of Ernestine and Albert Williams, Emeline Washington and Dorothy, and Robert Kirklin. Also survived by three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends and a devoted friend Mary Lee. A native Paulina and a resident of Vickbury.
Geraldine Oubre Thomas, age 81 years, a resident of St. James, departed this life on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. Daughter of the late Joseph and Rozena Ambrose Oubre. Wife of the late Israel Thomas. Retired from St. James Parish School System as a Food Service employee. A faithful member of St. James Catholic Church, Ladies Auxiliary, Christian Mothers Org., Board Member of Council on Aging, and enjoyed time at Welcome Senior Citizens Center. Mother of Gregory Thomas, , Mary (Eugene) Thomas and Linda (Charles) Winchester, grandmother of Dondreal (Arnold) Thompson, Jomall (Mianca) Winchester, Chad (Trevail) Thomas and Brandon Winchester, great-grandmother of Arielle, Afiya, Imani and Mikayla Thompson and Jordan Thomas, sister of Rose Marie Oubre, Jerome and Nathaniel Oubre, the late Lois Walker, Sidney, Vincent, John, Charles and James Oubre. Sister-in-law of Danny (Lydia Small), Cass Oubre, Jackie Oubre, Doris Southerland, and Mary Ann Watkins. Aunt of Juliette Jiles. Survived by a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Gaston L. “Hoody” Veron passed away on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at 6:00 a.m. He was 70 years old. He was a resident and native of Lutcher. He is survived by his wife Yvonne Arceneaux Veron, two daughters Danielle Schexnayder (Todd) and Michelle “Meeky” Martin, three brothers H. E. “Pecker” Veron Jr., Neil “Mac” Veron and Daniel “Polo” Veron, two sisters Lynette V. Poche and Marilyn V. Duhon. He is also survived by six grandchildren Hollie, Sara and Heidi Schexnayder and Miranda, Maddie and James Martin Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents Hendricks E. “Jimmy” and Cecile Octavie “Tavie” Gaudet Veron. He was a third and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and an avid golfer. He was a veteran of the United States Army and an Assistant Director of the Emergency Preparedness Dept. of St. James Parish and also past president of LEPA.
Arthur “Jack-O” Lucien Bonner Sr. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Gulf States LTAC of New Orleans. Son of the late Emma Mae Vidal Kelly. Stepson of the late Cal Kelly Sr. Husband of the late Audrey Ward Bonner. Father of Bobby (Janice) Smith and Dorothy Bonner. Godfather of Floyd Williams of Ama and Stephanie Powell of Los Angles, Calif. Also survived by a host of grandchildren, three aunts Ellestine Williams (caregiver), Antoinette Friloux and Thelma Vidal, one uncle John N. Vidal all of Ama, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age 80 years. A native of New Orleans and a resident of Ama.
Francois George Hotard Jr. passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. at Kenner Regional Hospital. Age 78. He was a Retired Electrician with GATX. A veteran Aviation Electrician’s Mate Third Class in the United States Navy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 13 years, Earline Hernandez Hotard, brother, Felix F. Hotard, sister, Betty Halfkespring, one stepdaughter, Rhonda Gaudin, and one grandson, George Gaudin.

Rebecca Alexis-Ellis departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Riverland Health Care Center in Lutcher. Wife of the late George Alexis Sr. by first marriage and the late Leon Ellis by second marriage. Beloved mother of Donell Alexis of Houston, Freddie Mae Jones of Inglewood, Calif., Fredrick Alexis of Mt. Airy, Gloria Brown of Lutcher, the late George Jr. and Calvin Alexis. Stepmother of Hilton Leonard of LaPlace and Addison Ellis of Highland, Calif. Mother-in-law of Audrey Alexis of LaPlace, the late James Jones, Alton Brown, Geraldine Alexis and Mary Alexis. Sister of Hilary Patterson of Lynwood, Calif., and Lillian Carter of Convent. Also survived by 21 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A native of Convent and a resident of Reserve. Age 91 years.
Stephen Fraisse on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. Beloved husband of Janice Fraisse. Father of Holly Fraisse Newman, Heather Fraisse and Stephanie Fraisse. Dea Thibooeaux Naquin peacefully passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Feb. 25, 2009. Born December 12, 1911, in Bayou Blue. Age 98, Mrs. Naquin was a long time resident of Marrero and of LaPlace for the past 12 years. Beloved wife of the late Lesile L. Naquin. Mother of Leslie J. Naquin (wife Cheryl) and Kermit J. Naquin (wife Sharon). Grandmother of Melinda N. Rodrigue (husband Don), Perry L. Naquln (wife Tessa.) and Michelle N. Guinn (husband Crayton). Great-grandmother of Aimee, Ashley, Alyssa and Andrew Rodrigue, Cameron and Connor Naquin and Ashley and Matthew Guinn. Survived by one sister, Genevieve T. Leonard of Thibodeaux. Daughter of the late Andrew and Cecil B. Thibodeaux.
Helen Clement Satterlee on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at 5:15 p.m. Beloved wife of Marion Satterlee. Mother of Linda Myers and husband Lew and Richard Satterlee. Cassidy John Curtis Vicknair on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. Beloved son of Curtis and Jeanne Vicknair. Brother of Coy St. Pierre, Steve Vicknair and Micah McCall. Brother-in-law of A.J. St. Pierre, Danielle Vicknair and Jonathan McCall. Uncle of Farrel III and Britain Weber, Stevie Vicknair, Lauren, Brandon, Lexi and Sophie St. Pierre, Lindie Lacrouts, Landon, Destiny, Delaney, Presley, Kailey, Jayden and Trevin McCall. Herman J. Toups Jr., age 63, died on Saturday Feb. 28, 2009, at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. He is survived by his wife, Judy Poleto Toups. Daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lynn Toups Laiche and Aaron Laiche and son and daughter-in-law, Herman Toups III and Celeste Hymel Toups. He was the loving grandfather of Amanda and Ali Laiche and Ashley and Jenna Toups. Brother-in-law of Allen Poleto. Son of the late Herman J. Toups Sr. and Dorothy Louque Toups and son-in-law of the late Samuel Poleto and Bertha Amedee Poleto. A native of Kenner and a resident of Garyville for the past 43 years. He worked for Kaiser Aluminum, LaRoche Chemicals and the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was an avid LSU fan. He will be sadly missed by wife, children and grandchildren.
