Louisiana 48 in Destrehan, between Destrehan Plantation and East Campus Drive, will close to all traffic beginning at 4 p.m. Friday due to the installation of a 24-inch water line under the river. The road is expected to be closed through the end of Saturday.
Traffic in the area will be detoured between I-310 and St. Rose Avenue through the duration of the work. Detour signs will be clearly posted. Another alternate route is Airline Highway.

To maneuver around the roadwork, motorists are advised to take Louisiana 637 to Airline Highway and Airline Highway to Louisiana 54 to rejoin River Road.
