Young hero honored for New Year rescue
LaPlace teen Zachary Revall (right) receives an award from LaPlace Volunteer Fire Chief John Snyder (left) for Revall’s heroic efforts to help save a family from a burning home. Revall was dropping off friends following a New Years Eve party when he noticed smoke and flames emanating from the roof of a home on Devon Road in the River Forest subdivision. Revall got out of his car, pounded on the door of the home to wake the residents, then ran to a neighbor to contact the fire department. The good Samaritan entered and exited the home multiple times to help evacuate the four adult residents, including one who was paralyzed.
