Katie Whelan

Were you born here? Yes, my parents were born here and raised me here

Who made a major impact on your life and why? My aunt is a nurse and she turned me on to her profession and convinced me to pursue it as a career. She opened my eyes to the value of nursing.

What do you love about St. John Parish? It’s a small community and almost everyone knows each other. I think it is a nice place to live.

What are you doing that’s good? I think studying nursing is good. To me it is an underappreciated aspect of the medical field.

Do you have a current pet peeve? Traffic in New Orleans. It’s bad no matter what you do.

What do you do in your spare time? I like to run and play tennis. I also love LSU football.

A favorite food: Sushi

A good book you read: I just finished Marley and Me because I wanted to read the book before going to see the movie. I highly recommend it.

What was the last movie you watched? The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which was very well done.

A favorite smell: Fresh coffee

What was the last music you listened to? Coldplay

What’s the best thing about you? My patience (hint, hint)

What would you like to say to everybody? Enjoy your day to the fullest.
