Antonio Guerrero scored the Wildcats’ lone goal in the second half to make it 3-1. But Dutchtown tacked on its fourth goal minutes later, then a fifth in the waning minutes of the match.
“I think we gave up some of those goals at the end due to frustration,” said East St. John Coach Paul Dupuy. “We were pressing too hard, leaving vacancies, and they made us pay.”

“They play very well defensively. We had shots at them, but couldn’t quite finish them off,” said Dupuy.
Dutchtown led 3-0 at halftime.
The Griffins (13-4-1) scored the match’s first goal six minutes in off of a throw in.
“Their guy ran into the box from 40 yards out and nailed a header. It was a perfect throw,” said Dupuy. “It was a little deflating. Until that point, we felt like we began with the momentum. We thought we matched up well, then they get a quick goal.”
Dutchtown scored its second goal off of a corner kick, and a third off of a penalty kick, though goalkeeper Marco Barrera blocked the initial shot. Dutchtown collected the deflection and scored on the rebound.
“Their goals, aside from that one, were all scored off of set plays,” said Dupuy. “We were just a step or two out of position. But that’s what soccer is. The teams that are consistently in the right position give themselves more chances.”
