LUTCHER – Authorities in St. James Parish arrested a Garyville man in connection with a shooting at a Lutcher nightclub that left five people injured in the early morning hours of Christmas day, according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Willy Martin said Calvin Ferrygood, 19, of Garyville, was apprehended a short time after the shooting after deputies found him hiding out in his mother’s boyfriend’s trailer home in Convent. Ferrygood was charged with five counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Authorities say a fight broke out inside the bar just before the shooting. When the scuffle moved out into the parking lot area, shots were fired.
Martin said one victim remains in critical condition at a hospital in Ascension Parish. Another is in stable condition after going through seven hours of surgery at a Baton Rouge hospital. The three other victims in the shooting were treated for minor injuries and released.
The incident is still under investigation and deputies are trying to determine a motive for the shooting. Investigators are looking into any possible relationship between Ferrygood and the five victims, which include four men and one woman.
