RESERVE – A Reserve man walking near the intersection of West 10th Street and Riverside Drive in Reserve was killed Saturday evening when he fell into the path of an oncoming car, said a spokesman for State Police.

Senior Trooper Joseph Piglia, public affairs officer for Louisiana State Police, said Jose V. Toledano, 33, was pronounced dead on the scene following the accident, which involved a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Katie A. Singleton, 63, of Reserve.

According to a release from state police, Toledano was walking westbound along Riverside Drive toward West 10th Street around 6:28 p.m. Saturday when he tripped and fell into the path of Singleton’s car, which was traveling northbound on West 10th Street.

Piglia said neither alcohol nor speed appeared to be a factor for Singleton. He said a toxicology exam is pending on Toledano to determine if was impaired at the time of the accident. He said investigators do not know what caused Toledano to fall into the street.

Trooper Brandon Beaudoin is continuing his investigation at this time.
