LAPLACE – A man armed with a gun made off with cash from a local restaurant during a robbery recently said a spokesman for the St. John Sheriff’s Office.

Maj. Mike Tregre, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, said an employee at Bull’s Corner Restaurant, 1036 W. Airline Hwy., LaPlace, told investigators that a black male wearing a dark hooded jacket with a mask over his face approached the bar area of the restaurant just after 9 p.m.

The employee, who was unharmed during the incident, said the suspect pointed a handgun at her and demanded that she “give him all her money.” She then opened the register and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect. The suspect took the money and fled the restaurant on foot in an unknown direction.

Tregre said that the incident could be related to similar armed robberies of other businesses in the area. He said investigators are looking into the possibility that the same suspect perpetrated the other robberies.

Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact the St. John Sheriff’s Office at 985-652-6338.

" We need to start a shakedown on all people wearing hooded jackets.
Get ID's and photos and finger prints.
If you don't want to be considered a suspect, wear other apparel.
The perpetrators are using the camoflage
of numbers and this should be treated the same as if they were wearing masks.
Maybe if you put pressure on their buddies, they may start turning them in instead of hiding them, and covering for them. "

" How about putting undercover police at the registers? Afraid to catch your own?
How about additional patrols in the suspected area? These robbers are not world travelers; once they find easy-pickings, they will stick around.
How about some rewards? These specimen
from the shallow end of the gene pool are not likely to be all that loyal if the price is right. I hope some of these suggestions help cause you couldn't do anything about an armed murderer gunning down an unarmed citizen "
