GARYVILLE - Marathon Petroleum Company LLC and the St. John Parish Government held an event day at Ezekiel Jackson Park recently for local citizens to participate in activities and enjoy a great afternoon at the park.

People in attendance enjoyed jambalaya, popcorn, cotton candy, crafts and free gifts. Other activities included a clown, spacewalks, a demonstration by the St. John Parish Canine Unit, free throw competition and a punt, pass and kick contest.

Since 2001, Marathon Petroleum Company and the St. John Parish Government have worked together to make significant improvements to Ezekiel Jackson Park. Some of the improvements included the fencing of additional property purchased by the parish adjacent to park, fence repair, painting and repair of the park concession stand, new playground equipment, a lighted walking/jogging track and a pavilion.

A clown was on hand to entertain the children with balloon art.

" NOT ONE WORD about security, police patrols, crime control???!!!
Get real people; You know what comes next; the hooded shirts and jackets,
convenient exchange point for narcotics,
gathering place for kids skipping school.
Where are the rules of behavior posted for the park?
Where are the enforcers? "

" Building another nest for juvi-crime.
Prettied up another facility for them to trash and destroy.
Would the staff photographer please take some photos and date them.
We want to show what this element of our community will do to these facilities in 6months and again at 12 months. "

" Your heart is in the right place.
I hope you got a decent tax write-off;
because you will be able to repeat your efforts very soon as the local citizens
destroy what you have given them.
They always do.
They always have.
They always will.
They can't help it.
They inherited it in their dna. "

" Fix it up, clean it up, build it up for the "local citizens" to degrade, deface, and destroy.
They'll do it every time.
I wish they would prove me wrong for a change. "

" MARATHON: your well-intentioned hard work may be punished by a lawsuit from Danny if he sees an opportunity where one of those fine citizens stubs their toe on this facility. "

" Thanks MARATHON:
Have you heard this from any of the local citizens?
How did you choose this particular park?
Was it a random choice?
I don't want to sound ungrateful, but do you plan to grace other facilities in the parrish with your benevolence as the budget and time allows? "
