LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John are investigating an armed robbery of a LaPlace man Friday night, said a spokesman for the St. John Sheriff’s Office.

Maj. Mike Tregre, public information officer for the St. John Sheriff’s Office, said the heist took place sometime around 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of Captain G. Bourgeois Street in LaPlace.

According to a report on the incident, the 58-year-old victim, whose name was not released, told investigators that while he was walking eastbound along the street two black males approached from the opposite direction and stopped to ask the victim a question.

The victim states that one of the men produced a handgun and demanded money. The other suspect then dug through the victim’s pockets and removed a wallet, containing $70. The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction in a dark colored four-door vehicle. The victim did not provide a description of his attackers.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the St. John Sheriff’s Office at 985-652-6338.
