RESERVE—The Riverlands Christian Center in Reserve will once again be offering its free “Freedom School” for the 2008-2009 school year.

Started by Pastor Steven Perrilloux and his wife Rita, the aim of the school is “to ensure every child a Healthy Start, a Head Start, a Fair Start, a Safe Start and a Moral Start in life and successful passage into adulthood with the help of caring families and communities.”

According to the program’s brochure, children who participate in the Freedom School have improved their reading abilities and demonstrate a greater love of learning and positive changes in social adjustment.

The program is open to children in grades 3 through 8 and begins on November 3.

Children enrolled in the program are picked up from their school and transported to the Freedom School site at 123 Redemption Way in Reserve. The school operates Monday through Thursday except on school holidays.

The Center also offers a similar program during the summer months.
