Babin

Lynwood “Mule” Babin passed away on Monday, October 6, 2008, at his residence in LaPlace. Age 66. A native of Paulina and resident of LaPlace. A retired employee of GATX and Veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a Catholic. Survivors include wife Carolyn Deslatte Babin, son, Troy Babin, daughters Melissa Babin, Daina Johnson, Christy Babin and Trudy Ocmand, brothers William Babin and Louis Babin, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents Leonce J. Babin Sr. and Coralie Lambert Babin, grandchild Robert Jr., five brothers and two sisters.

Visitation and services were held on Friday, October 10, at Alexander Funeral Home of Lutcher. Cremation followed services.

Bonin

Orelans Bonin passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2008. He is preceded death by his loving wife Leona Bonin. He is survived by two sisters Agnes Bonin Trahan and Mary (Wizzie) Goodrich; several nieces, other relatives and friends.

Visitation and services were held on Friday, October 10, at Professional Funeral Services Inc. in LaPlace. Interment in Restlawn Park Cemetery.

Celestine

Johnny “Whip” John Celestine Jr. born February 9, 1924, and passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Orange, Texas.  Husband of Julia Richardson Celestine. Father of Augustine, Johnnie, Kim and the late August Celestine.  Son of the late Johnny Celestine Sr. and Alena London Celestine.  Brother of Charles Celestine, Aldonina Priestly and Josephine Jones.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Royal Celestine, Albert Celestine and Joseph Celestine; and two sisters: Alberta Baptiste and Evelina Davis. Also survived by 10  grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  Age 84 years, a native of Moonshine, La., a resident of New Orleans, La., until 2005 and resident of Orange, Texas, for the past three years.

Services were held at St. Luke Baptist Church in, St. James (Moonshine), on Thursday, October 9.

Weber

Bernice “Bonnie” Levet Weber, age 87, surrounded by family, passed away on Friday October 10, 2008, at 3:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Dewey (Airline, Pal) Weber Jr. Weber was born in Reserve and lived in LaPlace. Mother and mother-in-law of Wayne and Claudia Weber, Paulette and Dean Hall and the late Danny Weber. Daughter of the late John and Olive Levet. Sister of the late Lemonce Levet, Amy Jacob, Thelma Stout and Percy Levet. Survived by a brother Ernest Levet and a sister Gloria Vicknair. Also survived by three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in LaPlace on Tuesday, October 14. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve.
