St. James D.A. runoff set

CONVENT – Ricky Babin and Louis Lambert finished one-two in the Saturday election for St. James district attorney, putting the two in a runoff on November 4.

Babin finished first in the Saturday primary, taking 34.7 percent, with Lambert getting 28.3 percent, putting them in the Nov. 4 runoff to become the next district attorney after the incumbent decided not to run again.

Babin had 11,540 votes, with Lambert getting 9,370 votes.

Also running in the primary were Pegram Mire Jr., who finished third with 20.4 percent, and Charles “Chuck” Long finishing fourth with 16.5 percent.

Mire got 6,800 votes and Long had 5,476 votes.
