HAHNVILLE – A 23-year veteran of the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office has been terminated from the department following two arrests in connection with separate altercations involving his wife, in which he threatened to kill her, according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Troy Self, 49, 305 Santa Cruz Ct., Luling, an assistant warden at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility in Hahnville, is facing aggravated assault, reckless driving and harassment charges after two recent incidents with his wife, said Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes.

According to a report from the Sheriff’s Office, around 10 p.m. last Monday, Self’s wife called 911 after Self pulled a gun on her and threatened her life. Two days later, self was pulled over in the 500 block of West Easy Street in New Sarpy after he tried to run his wife off the road in an attempt to talk to her. The victim said that Self had also been making harassing phone calls to her.
Self was suspended without pay, following the first arrest, but was fired from his post at the jail this past Wednesday. He had been an employee of the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office since 1985.
