RESERVE - Students at East St. John High School can sign up for free tutoring as part of a federal “No Child Left Behind” program during a “first-come, first-serve” Parent/Provider Fair on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. at the school.

School officials will meet with parents in the school library to share information about the free program and to work with parents to determine which tutoring program is best for their child.

“We anticipate the demand to exceed funding,” she said, “so enrollment will be on a first come, first serve basis. I want to impress upon all parents not to delay, but to sign up for the services as soon as possible,” said Dr. Courtney P. Millet, superintendent of St. John the Baptist Parish Schools.

Dr. Millet said the tutoring program is available to students who scored Unsatisfactory on the Graduation Exit Exam (GEE) in English/language arts and mathematics.

Parents will be required to complete a registration form and will be contacted within five working days following the Parent/Provider Fair about when and where the free tutoring will start.
