St. Charles Public School System takes home four media awards

LULING - The St. Charles Parish Public School System won four awards in the National School Public Relations Association’s 2008 Publication and Electronic Media Contest.

The school system won two Awards of Excellence, the highest award level, for the 2007-2008 InBox and the Satellite Center’s Building a Better You branding campaign – a campaign developed and implemented by students.

The 2007-2008 Calendar won the Award of Merit, and the Active Shooter Scenario video won the Award of Honorable Mention   This student-produced video highlighted a joint training exercise of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office and school system to test crisis emergency responses.

Of the 169 entries submitted in the audiovisual category, only 65 were honored.  In the publication category, 895 entries were submitted, 206 entries were honored the Award of Merit, and 76 were awarded the Award of Excellence.  Awards are given at three levels:  Honorable Mention, Award of Merit, and Award of Excellence.

Since 1935, the National School Public Relations Association has provided school communication training and services to school leaders throughout the United States, Canada, and the U.S. Department of Defense Dependents Schools worldwide.  The association’s mission is to advance education through responsible communication.
