LAPLACE – Louisiana State Troopers and LaPlace firefighters investigated the scene of a two-car accident at the intersection of Belle Terre Boulevard and Fairway Drive Thursday evening. According to troopers on the scene, the black Honda CRV, driven by 17-year-old Alayna Bernard was turning south onto Belle Terre when it collided with a grey Mercury Marquis driven by 52-year-old Bruce Sanders. Both Sanders and Bernard were transported to River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace with minor injuries. The accident is still under investigation, and it is not known whether Bernard had the right of way to turn onto Belle Terre at the time of the accident. Staff photos by Kevin Chiri.
