Garyville Talk Goes On

Published/Last Modified on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 2:21 PM CDT

The Garyville Incorporation Committee held another public hearing on Monday night to discuss the issues surrounding the proposed vote for incorporation, currently scheduled to take place on July 19. Russell Starns, from the town of Central, was the guest speaker to tell about Central’s most recent efforts over a year ago to incorporate. In top photo, one man got irate, asking committee leaders to “put your hand on a Bible and swear taxes won’t go up.” However Starns said that in Central, “services got 10 times better and taxes didn’t go up.” The key issue remains whether industry tax money will come to Garyville or not. " I do not know all of the facts in this case, however, I know Ms. Baloney must be on to something if not industry and the parish would not be fighting so hard against her. "

" Yes, some industry taxes will come to Garyville inc. by way of the courts, if it past, but the way this has been handle by some people GARYVILLE WILL STAY THE WAY IT IS NOW. THE VOTERS WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AND VOTE NO "
