La. Homeschoolers meet this summer

Christian Homeschool Educator’s Fellowship (CHEF) of Louisiana is hosting its state convention this summer.  All who are interested in getting started in homeschooling or current homeschoolers are encouraged to attend.  The theme this year will be Homeschooling: The Journey of a Lifetime.  It will take place on Friday and Saturday, July 18 and 19 at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, 19421 Greenwell Springs Road,  Greenwell Springs, LA 70739.  Guest speakers are Steve and Jane Lambert, creators of Five in a Row Unit Studies.  Gov Bobby Jindal will be speaking as well, on Saturday at 11am.

Convention topics include: Classical Homeschooling; Getting Started:  Preparing for Success; The Way You Wish You’d Been Taught; Homeschooling  High School; Tools for Teaching Reading; Integrating Family Worship, Bible, and Homeschooling; and Bringing History to Life.

Besides speakers and workshops, there will also be a book fair of over 30 vendors and a children’s conference.  The theme for the children will be “Faith, Family, and Fellowship:   American Roadtrip” for ages 5-12, and will include stories, games, songs, skits, and games.
