St. James to host ‘Disney’ musical June 19-21

Lutcher -- Rehearsals for St. James Community Theater’s summer musical production of “Disney’s High School Musical” are in the final stages as the cast and crew get ready for opening night.

 The show is set to run nightly at 7:00 PM from Thursday, June 19th through Saturday, June 21st.  One matinee performance is scheduled for Sunday, June 22nd at 2:00 PM.  The final two performances are scheduled for Friday, June 27th and Saturday, June 28th at 7:00 PM.  All performances will be at the Lutcher High School Auditorium, 1910 W. Main Street.

 in Lutcher. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for children 12 and under, and go on sale Monday, June 9th at Roussel’s Gifts and Antiques in Gramercy.

The cast of High School Musical will feature several talented young performers from the River Parishes.  Starring in the lead roles of Troy and Gabriella are Jimmy Dornier and Meryl Waguespack.  The supporting roles of Ryan and Sharpay will be played by Colby Chabaud and Clarissa Guidry.  Other featured performers include Aston Williams as Chad, Haley Jeandron as Taylor, Ricky Poche, Jr. as Zeke, Hannah Waguespack as Martha, and Paige Bourgeois as Kelsi.

The show will include several high-energy dance production numbers choreographed by Yvonne Thomas, owner and director of the Yvonne’s Directions in Dance.   St. James Community Theater has invested in new lighting and sound equipment for the High School Musical production, which will be under the technical direction of John LeBlanc.

Serving as directors for High School Musical is Becky Foret and Tammi Marshall.  Musical directors are Julie Boudreaux and Colby Chabaud.  For more information, visit www.stjamestheater.org.
