Big day for mom in Essay Contest

Published/Last Modified on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 2:48 PM CDT

Hey kids! Do you really think your mom is the best?

Really? It’s easy to say that, but do you really, really mean it?

L’Observateur, along with three area businesses, is going to give you a chance to prove what you say.

A special Mother’s Day Essay contest, entitled, “Why my Mom Deserves to be Pampered,” is now underway.

Students of any age can send in an essay of under 300 words that tells in detail why they think their mom is the best, and why she deserves to have a day of pampering.

The prize package for the winning mom will be a great one.

Salon Menage in LaPlace is offering a day of relaxation with the full body treatment, while Carmouche Jeweler’s will be giving jewelry, and Wayne Jacob’s Smokehouse has dinner for two to the winning mom.

But now it is up to you to make sure your mom wins.

Write an essay of no more than 300 words, and tell us what makes your mom so special and why she deserves to get our special prize package.

You can mail in or e-mail in your essay. Send it by e-mail to kchiri@bellsouth.net, and make sure to note in the subject line that it is a Mother’s Day contest entry. Or you can mail your entry to “Mother’s Day Contest,” c/o L’Observateur, P.O. Box 1010, LaPlace, La., 70069.

Deadline to enter is Wednesday, April 30.
