SORRENTO – The Advisory Board for River Parishes Community College’s Learn and Serve Grant met recently for an informal luncheon and orientation session at the Emergency Operations Center in St. John the Baptist Parish.

River Parishes Community College continues to increase its service-learning programs by recently being awarded a Ready and Response Service Team Grant titled “Three-Plus Circle of Service.”  The grant partners three K-12 schools in St. John the Baptist Parish, three RPCC courses and three agencies to help Louisiana in its rebuilding efforts after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

RPCC students will be instrumental in helping young people and their families in emergency preparedness.  The grant is designed for three years with one K-12 school being visited each year.
